Despite Ukraine War, Environmental Education In Carpathians Continues
Global Conservation Supports Dr. Olena Slobodian's Film and Book Tour
As part of the event, a presentation of the book "The Underground World of the Carpathians" and a screening of the video "Queen of the Carpathians" were organized in educational institutions located on the territory of the Carpathian National Natural Park and neighboring territorial communities.
12 educational institutions, including lyceums and gymnasiums, were involved in the cooperation, and approximately 1,260 students were part of the event.
Each participant in the event had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the diversity and peculiarities of the underground world of invertebrates. Through interaction with specialists, students had a unique opportunity to explore and study different types of invertebrates that live in the underground environment. They were impressed by the life cycle of these animals and their behavioral characteristics.
In addition, the showing of the movie Queen of the Carpathians caused serious concern among students. They understand that deforestation and threats to the ecosystem of the Carpathian region can have negative consequences for nature and society. This made them wonder about ways to preserve nature and search for alternative sources of heating to avoid dependence on deforestation. The students also expressed interest in the work of the park and the mechanisms for detecting poachers, which shows their interest in nature conservation and the fight against illegal hunting.
During the event, students were actively involved in discussions about the environmental problems of the Carpathian region and discussed possible ways to solve these problems. Many students expressed their willingness to participate in nature conservation.
